Often entrepeneurs in high tech business sectors have difficulty in financing the required affairs in order to set up the new company. I amstarter has funds for attractive loans to help promising technostarters to bridge the first financial gap. This so called preseed loan can be used for the actual registry of the new company, or for any of the following necessary preparations:
- proof of concept study (incl. prototype development and production)
- technical and/or commercial feasibility study
- professional business plan
- coaching
- financial and/or legal consultancy
- IP portfolio and/or ‘freedom to operate’ analysis.
The loan is negotiate personally by the technostarter and should be fully redeemed after maximum three years to the I amstarter preseed fund (the detailed preseed conditions can be sent on request). It is the intention that by that time the new business will have income from either capital investments, grants, subsidies, collaborations, licenses, or sales of products or services, which can be used to pay-off the loan. This way, the preseed fund can provide loans to new preseed applicants.
To apply for a preseed loan, please contact one of the three technology transfer offices (link), who will guide your application. Once completed, the chairman of the expert committee shall forward the application files to several business experts from the I amstarter network, selected to have relevant expertise in the specific field. The technostarter can present the business case on the next monthly Expert Committee Meeting, including discussions. After the meeting, the Expert Committee will evaluate the preseed application, based on financial and market data, intellectual property rights position, technical feasibility, entrepreneurial skills of the Technostarter and the planned use for the loan. The complete advice will be reported back to the starter.
Depending on the needs, a part of the I amstarter preseed loan can be delivered in kind by means of accommodation or time-off from the regular employment to spend on business activities.
